There once was an engineer who liked to play golf with a cigar in-hand. He soon realized that he needed somewhere to place his cigar while he was taking his golf shot.
He could lay it on the ground (alongside the pesticides and fertilizers) but that’s no good.
He could place it on the golf cart floorboard alongside more chemicals, debris, and whatever else he has stepped in. That’s no good, either.
He noticed a few products that attempted to solve the problem, but required two hands to remove the cigar from a potentially-damaging spring clip. That’s no good, either.
He took a PVC fitting and mounted it on a piece of plastic shaped like a clip so that the holder could fit on his golf bag. He could place the cigar in it when he went to take his club out, take his shot, re-place his club, and pick the cigar back up. He created the holder with a slight angle, so the cigar would be leaning and keep the ashes from falling straight down.
The holder needed to be extended to keep the cigar safe when riding over bumps. This created the next problem: Retrieving the cigar once it became too short. He added a small hole at the bottom of the holder so it could be pushed out with a golf tee. He then added two holes horizontally so that a tee could be put through the holder to stop the cigar from going deeper into the holder (and preventing burned fingers).
This design was tested over an extended period with sample product given to many of his friends. He quickly noticed that some of the people were clipping the holder at other places on the golf cart, such as the windshield or the cupholders. He wanted to accommodate this flexibility, so he increased the radius on the clip to allow it to spring a greater distance without deforming the plastic.
After realizing some customers may want to keep their cigars nearby, he looked at additional ways to mount the holder. One of them was by using magnets that would stick directly to the steel roof supports in Golf Carts. For Golf Carts with aluminum roof supports, he made a suction cup adapter that can stick directly to the windshield (or any other smooth flat surface, such as a boat!). This opened up the SmokeBro to new opportunities.
The current design is the result of many revisions and improvements. Tee one up, relax, and enjoy a smoke, bro!
